Visitors and staff can be identified by QR code or physical smart card at entry and exit. Both resolve to the same person record, so you can mix and match to fit your site.
QR codes
- Pre-registered visitors receive a QR pass by email or in their Apple/Google Wallet.
- They scan it at the kiosk or a wall-mounted / gate QR reader to check in.
- Scanning again on the way out checks them out and closes the visit.
QR is the fastest option to roll out — no extra hardware beyond a reader or the kiosk camera, and passes can be reissued instantly if lost.
Smart cards (RFID / NFC / prox)
- Open the person's record and click Enroll Card.
- Tap the physical card on your reader — KyberAccess captures the card's UID and saves it to that person.
- At the gate, tapping the card resolves the same person a QR would, and logs check-in/out.
Smart cards are ideal for staff and recurring visitors who already carry a badge, and for high-throughput entrances where scanning a card is faster than a phone.
Hardware notes
- Most USB and keyboard-wedge RFID/NFC readers work out of the box — they simply "type" the card UID, which KyberAccess reads like a scan.
- Card UIDs are unique per organization, so the same physical card stock can be reused across sites without conflict.
- QR and smart cards can be used side by side; a person can have both.
Tips
- Issue Wallet passes for visitors and reserve smart cards for staff to balance cost and convenience.
- Deactivating a lost card or pass is instant from the person's record.
