Two-Phase Secure Student Pickup

Last updated on Jul 09, 2026

KyberAccess supports a two-phase, verified student pickup workflow so only authorized adults can collect a student — a critical safeguard for schools and camps.

Set up authorized pickups

  1. Go to Student Pickup and add each student (or import your roster).
  2. For each student, add the authorized pickup people — name, relationship, photo, and ID on file.
  3. Only people on a student's list will be approved to collect that student.

Phase One — verify the adult

  1. In Pickup mode, the guard scans the parent/guardian's QR or smart card (or searches their name).
  2. The system displays the adult's photo, name, and ID, plus the list of students they're authorized to pick up.
  3. The guard visually confirms the person matches the record before continuing.

Phase Two — verify the student match

  1. The guard scans or selects the student being released.
  2. KyberAccess validates the parent-to-student authorization link in real time.
  3. The result is unmistakable:
    • RELEASE APPROVED (green) if the adult is authorized for that student.
    • NOT AUTHORIZED (red) if they are not — prompting the guard to stop and escalate.
  4. Every pickup, approved or denied, is logged with the time, the student, the adult, and the verifying guard.

Why two phases

Checking the adult and confirming the specific parent-to-student link prevents an authorized parent from collecting the wrong child, and creates a complete, defensible audit trail for every release.

Tips

  • Keep authorized-pickup lists current at the start of each term.
  • Combine with smart cards for faster daily dismissal, and with guard verification for identity confidence.
